Looking Back, A Police Story tells the story of Law Enforcement Professionals (LEPs) who are embedded in the US Military Forces and who are assisting with the War on Terrorism. Since the attacks of 9-11 the military has had to adjust to not only fighting this war on the battlefields but also in the court rooms.
Individuals who are identified as terrorists or who are captured on the battlefields are eventually prosecuted in civilian and military courts. Evidence is required to effectively prosecute these individuals. The role of the LEPs is to assist the military with obtaining and documenting this evidence.
A Police Story tells of my experiences as a LEP in Iraq and Afghanistan.

David Cole would probably describe himself as just an average joe who became a cop, but this is the story of a guy who served many years as a police officer on Long island, including the nightmare of 911 and after retirement still felt he had not done enough, so he was off to a war zone in Iraq where of course he is almost killed.No glitz, just the facts Ma'am, O, that we had more Americans like David Cole.....this is a time that we really need them.

As a person who was named in this book and lived the same experience as Dave Cole I can tell you the book was spot on. Put to words the feelings,emotion,and frustration of the embedded police trainers in Iraq and Afghanistan. Great cop,and now great author (and still the only man I never beat at chess!!).
